FAQs

  • What is therapy like?

Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, therapy will be different depending on the individual. In general, you can expect to discuss the current events happening in your life, your personal history relevant to your issue, and report progress (or any new insights gained) from the previous therapy session. It is most common to schedule regular sessions with your therapist (usually weekly).

It is important to understand that you will get more results from therapy if you actively participate in the process. The ultimate purpose of therapy is to help you bring what you learn in session back into your life.  Therefore, beyond the work you do in therapy sessions, your therapist may suggest some things you can do outside of therapy to support your process. People seeking psychotherapy are ready to make positive changes in their lives, are open to new perspectives and take responsibility for their lives.

  • Do you accept insurance?

Healing Pathways Collaborative is out-of-network and does not accept insurance. Payment is due in full and will be billed to the credit card of your choosing on the day of service. At the end of each month you will receive a Superbill (a detailed receipt) which you can then use to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Please check with your specific insurance plan to determine your individual coverage.

  • What age population do you work with?

Healing Pathways Collaborative works with a wide range of individuals including children, teens, and adults.

  • How long do I need to be in therapy?

One size does not fit all. Time in therapy will be determined by your goals, the time you commit to making changes outside of the therapy session, and what is discussed and agreed upon by you and your clinician.

  • Where are you located?

Services are currently offered via telehealth or in-person in Old Town, Alexandria, VA, for residents of Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland.
